Born in Cork City, Ireland in 1984, Michelle went to the village schools in Kilworth, County Cork, before attending secondary school at Coláiste an Chraoibhín,Fermoy where she sat her Leaving Cert in 2001. She then went on to study for two years for a certificate in childcare and graduated in 2003. During all her school days, Michelle loved reading and writing, but her love of poetry developed further during her years at secondary school. Writing stories and poems from a young age, she got her first poem published in The International Library of Poetry's 2000 anthology 'A Stream of Imaginings'. More followed, including a publication in 'The International Whos Who in Poetry'. Receiving an Editors choice award in 2006, an Outstanding Achievement in Poetry Award in 2007, and a Poet of Merit award in 2008, she decided to continue writing and in 2009 her first collection of Poetry 'Under these Rebel Skies', published by Lulu.com was published. Launched on January 6th 2010, it was followed by a Book Launch on February 12th with close family and friends. Currently studying for a Diploma in Travel Writing, she is working on her second collection of poetry and hopes to continue on to study for a diploma in English Literature before she makes her dream trip to travel around the United States of America. Maybe then, she says, she will pursue her original path towards Interior Design, but writing comes first.
